Some cars have elegant design features while others are plain

Cars are launched by puncturing the tip of the cartridge with a steel pin

 At left, the teacher's car, the standard block of wood issued to every one. Each student designs his/her car and commits the plan to paper. A second student will cut the block on a band saw using only the paper design.
